The steps listed below will guide you through setting up your computer to connect to neXband.
  1. Click the Start button point to Settings and choose Control Panel.
  2. Click the Network icon.
  3. Click the IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol component.
  4. Click the Remove button.
  5. Click the NetBEUI component.
  6. Click the Remove button.
  7. Click the Add button.
  8. Click the Protocol component.
  9. Click the Add button.
  10. Click Microsoft under Manufacturers.
  11. Click TCP/IP under Network Protocols.
  12. Click the OK button.
  13. Click the Add button.
  14. Click on TCP/IP and select Properties.
  15. Select the Wins Configuration Tab and select Disable Wins Resolution.
  16. Click Ok.
  17. Click Client.
  18. Click the Add button.
  19. Click Microsoft under Manufacturers.
  20. Click Client for Microsoft Networks.
  21. Click the OK button.
  22. You should now have only three network components: Client for Microsoft Networks, Dial-Up Adapter, and TCP/IP.
  23. Click the Dial-Up Adapter Component.
  24. Click the Properties button.
  25. Click the Advanced tab.
  26. Click Use IPX header compression.
  27. In the Value field, click on the down arrow and select No.
  28. Click the OK button.
  29. Click the Identifictation tab.
  30. In the Computer Name text box, type your username in lower-case characters.
  31. In the Workgroup text box, type neXband
  32. Click the OK button.
  33. When Windows prompts you to restart the computer, click OK.
  34. Wait for the computer to restart.
  35. When you see the login prompt, click OK without entering a password. (This will ensure that you will not be prompted to login to your own computer again.
  36. Close the Control Panel window.
  37. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon in the My Computer window.
  38. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
  39. Under Type a name for the computer you are dialing type neXband.
  40. Click the Configure button.
  41. Check that the Maximum speed setting is correct for your modem (for 14.4k modems use 19200, for 28.8k modems use 38400, for 33.6k modems use 57600 and for 56k modems use 115200.)
  42. Make sure that Only connect at this speed is not checked. Click OK.
  43. Click the Next button.
  44. Determine which access number is local for you.
  45. Type the telephone number in the appropraite field with no spaces or dashes.
  46. Click the Next button.
  47. Click the Finish button.
  48. Click the neXband icon.
  49. Click File from the menu bar.
  50. Click Properties.
  51. Click the Server Type button.
  52. Uncheck Log on to network.
  53. Check Enable software compression.
  54. Uncheck Require encrypted password.
  55. Uncheck NetBEUI.
  56. Uncheck IPX/SPX Compatible.
  57. Check TCP/IP.
  58. Click the OK button.
  59. Click OK again.
  60. Click OK one more time.
  61. Right click on the neXband icon and select Create Shortcut.
  62. Click the OK button.
  63. Close the Dial Up Networking window.
  64. Click on the neXband shortcut.
  65. Enter your password and click on Connect.

Thats it, now you are ready to connect to neXband
